Letter, 1858.

Handwritten and signed letter, dated Dec. 1858, addressed to Mary Nowitt, and composed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Allibone writes that he is sending a copy of his first volume of his "Dictionary of English Literature and British and American Authors." He says his work includes "an accurate record" of female as well as male writers and requests that Nowitt inform him if she agrees with this assessment. Also included is a paper with "Allibone A.L.S." written on it.
